Illustrative scene: some compress formats in this comparison are warmed in a microwave or chilled in a freezer, per their makers' instructions, while the single-use packs and the rechargeable steam eye mask are prepared differently. No products are shown.
Warm or cold: what this guide compares, and what it leaves to your eye-care professional
This guide from the Beminda team sets four formats side by side: Bruder's Moist Heat Eye Compress, CorneaCare's Rest and Rescue pads, the Manta COOL Mask and the Beminda Steam Therapy Pro S-400R. For each one it covers how the maker says to make it warm or cold, how far ahead to plan, how long to apply it, and what is left to clean or throw away afterward.
Which temperature suits a specific eye concern is a question for your eye-care professional; this guide compares maker instructions only.
Three practical questions narrow the choice before any product detail. Do you have freezer room and an hour of notice? Would you rather reuse one item or open a fresh pad each time? Do you want warm and cold from the same product?
One product or two? How each format covers warm and cold
- Bruder: one compress, microwave or freezer. Bruder Healthcare Company
- CorneaCare: two separate pads, Rest for warm and Rescue for cold, sold together in one bundle. CorneaCare
- Manta: the COOL eye cups are designed to be cooled only. Manta Sleep
- Beminda S-400R: three modes on one mask, continuous warm mist, interval warm mist and cool mist. Beminda
The table below holds each maker's preparation steps and stated times once. The sections after it add only what does not fit in a cell, and the questions at the end point back to the matching row.

Bruder: microwave or freezer, plus dedicated cold options
For cold, Bruder says the same compress can go in the freezer. It also offers a Cold Therapy Eye Compress, plus PROTOCOLD Cold Therapy Pads with a non-absorbent polyester/urethane cover that go straight from freezer to skin. Bruder Healthcare Company
For warmth, Bruder recommends a medium setting and a touch test first. Before reheating, wait at least 30 minutes, and halve the heating time if you reuse it within 30 minutes. Bruder Healthcare Company
CorneaCare Rest and Rescue: two single-use pads, no microwave and no freezer
CorneaCare's bundle holds 30 individually packaged Rest warm compresses and 6 individually packaged Rescue hydrogel cold compresses, with no microwave or freezer needed. That is five warm pads for every cold pad. CorneaCare
Rest is one-time use: open the packet, unfold the mask, put the loops around your ears with it over closed eyes, and leave it on while it self-heats. CorneaCare says it uses micronized activated carbon/charcoal and ferrous powder activated by ambient air, with purified water, hydrated minerals and inorganic salts. CorneaCare
Rescue is also one-time use: open the packet, unfold the mask, peel the film off the hydrogel adhesive and place it over closed eyes and lashes. CorneaCare
The Rescue product page lists plant-based hydrogel, hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), natural plant extracts including Cassia seeds, menthol, borneol and medlar. A lower FAQ section on the same page gives a shorter five-item list without hyaluronic acid. CorneaCare The bundle page gives the Rescue list without the Cassia-seed example and calls Rest's carbon component activated charcoal. CorneaCare
Both pads go in the trash after use, not down the toilet. CorneaCare

Manta COOL: plan an hour ahead, and never heat the cups
Manta's eye cups detach, go in the freezer in their bag, then attach to an adjustable 73 cm head strap. They contain special ceramic beads and must not be heated or microwaved. Manta says to hand wash them gently, never in a washing machine. Manta Sleep
Manta's features section describes the cups as filled with insulated cooling beads. Manta Sleep
Beminda Steam Therapy Pro S-400R: warm mist and cool mist as modes on one mask
Beminda Steam Therapy Pro is a rechargeable, hands-free steam eye mask. The current S-400R is a one-button mask. The current model has three 12-minute modes: continuous warm mist, interval warm mist and cool mist. Each mode lasts 12 minutes; warm modes include approximately four minutes of warm-up. That warm-up counts inside the 12 minutes, not on top of them. Beminda
The current manual says mist can appear during the warm-up and that no signal marks its end. It also says to keep your eyes closed, and the mask switches off at the end of the session. Beminda
For the current S-400R reservoir: Use still, unflavored bottled drinking water only. Do not add anything else. Empty, clean and dry the mask after each use. The current manual says not to submerge or rinse the electrical body. Beminda
This guide does not compare how cool mist feels with a frozen cup or a hydrogel pad.
